CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – From January through July 2026, Egyptians working abroad sent home approximately $29.7 billion in remittances. The Central Bank of Egypt indicated this amount marked a 28.1% increase compared to around $23.2 billion during the same period last year. The seven-month rise contributed roughly $6.5 billion more than the same period in 2025. These figures reflect funds transferred by Egyptians employed outside the country. The increase in the January-to-July period followed the record-breaking total reported for the full year 2025.

Remittances in July alone reached about $4.5 billion, representing a 20% increase from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. The earlier months also experienced year-on-year growth. In January, inflows were approximately $3.5 billion, up from $2.9 billion in the same month last year. February’s remittance receipts increased to about $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined total for January and February amounted to roughly $7.3 billion, exceeding the same period last year by approximately $1.4 billion.
The overall fiscal-year data further confirms the upward trend in remittance inflows. During fiscal 2025/2026, Egypt received roughly $47.3 billion, reflecting an increase of 29.6% from $36.5 billion in the prior fiscal year. June 2026 alone brought in approximately $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, a rise of 15.6%. The fiscal year spanned from July 2025 through June 2026, while the current seven-month figure covers January through July 2026. The dollar value of the fiscal-year increase is around $10.8 billion.
Remittance flows increase across reporting intervals
Annual data also show higher remittance inflows. In 2025, the total reached about $41.5 billion, a 40.5% jump from approximately $29.6 billion in 2024. This represented a gain of roughly $11.9 billion. For the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows summed up to about $22.1 billion, compared with $17.1 billion during the same period the previous year, marking a 29.6% increase. December 2025 saw a monthly record of roughly $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative remittances for the fiscal year reached $25.6 billion, compared with $20.0 billion at the same point in the prior year. The Central Bank of Egypt later reported about $29.4 billion through February, a 28% rise from the approximately $23.0 billion during the same eight-month span. The year-on-year increase for December was about $800 million.
Spring period data continue to demonstrate remittance growth
Remittances kept climbing during the spring months. For July through March of fiscal 2025/2026, the total reached approximately $34.9 billion, representing a 32% increase from the $26.4 billion recorded during the same interval in the previous year. By April, the total had risen to around $39.2 billion, a 33.2% jump from $29.4 billion. April alone contributed roughly $4.3 billion, compared to $3.0 billion in April 2025, marking a 44% monthly increase or about $1.3 billion.
By May, remittances for the fiscal year climbed to approximately $43.1 billion, up 31.2% from $32.8 billion in the same month of the prior year. In May 2026, inflows amounted to about $3.9 billion, versus roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. The eleven-month cumulative increase reached around $10.3 billion. After June, the fiscal year closed at $47.3 billion, and July’s figures pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. All recent comparisons—monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year—continue to reflect figures higher than the corresponding periods in the previous year.
